The conditions were warm and windy for this South Melbourne auction, where auctioneer Geoff Cayzer stressed the significance of the location and the prestige of living in the Anderson Street home. Waiting patiently for an opening bid from the sizeable crowd, Mr Cayzer finally received one for $1,800,000; well below what he was hoping for. A second bid was made for $1,820,000 moments later, however Mr Cayzer rejected it as he was looking for a rise of $50,000. Mr Cayzer made a vendor bid of $2,000,000. Spreading his arms out to an enormous wingspan, Mr Cayzer began summoning bids from the crowd using his powers of persuasive wizardry. The price quickly rose to $2,100,000, then $2,200,000 and came to a halt at $2,265,000. The property was sold for that price on the day to a very happy party. There were four bidders in total from the vibrant crowd of around 70 people.
