BOUGHT* - $1,400,000

This Port Melbourne property which featured in the Domain newspaper drew a large crowd of 140 which filled the street. Auctioneer Michael Szulc in his preamble described it as being an “extremely, extremely special property”. Mr Szulc’s call for an opening bid was met with silence and so he opened with a vendor bid of $1,300,000 and looked for $20,000 rises. Mr Szulc’s enthusiasm for the property was obvious but with no bidding, he made a further and final vendor bid of $1,325,000. A bid from the crowd of $1,335,000 followed but despite the substantial attendance there was no further bidding and the property was passed in.
