“You judge a property by the company it keeps” were the words of auctioneer Rodney Morley in his preamble and, as he said, it was in good company indeed. Mr Morley spoke enthusiastically of the property and location describing Toorak as the “number one suburb in Melbourne,” situated close to numerous amenities. Mr Morley got proceedings underway with a vendor bid of $4,000,000 and looked for $100,000 rises which he soon revised to $50,000 rises. A bid from the assembled group of $4,050,000 was soon offered and Mr Morley worked hard to create a competition. However with no further participation from the 40 in attendance, the property was passed in.
