5 Loch Street, SURREY HILLS
BOUGHT* - $1,482,000
One of the few auctions where I have been left speechless. This auction had it all - even the crowd had their phones out recording the action! Glen Coutinho was auctioneer and before he had even finished his preamble a strong $1,300,000 was offered to begin the auction. What transpired next was highly unusual "another 10 and the property is on the market," said Mr Coutinho and, true to his word, the property was on the market when bidder two popped up. Bidder three joined in not long after and the auction then turned into the battle of 1000s. The bidders then exchanged $1000 bids pushing the price beyond $1,400,000. Mr Coutinho looked like he was back in school counting in 1000s until the price reached $1,480,000 where the final twist occurred. A fourth bidder appeared and added another $1000 bid before withdrawing. It was a strange event but it didn't deny bidder three who nodded another $1000 and had the property knocked down to him, much to delight of his young family and the crowd attending.
