35 Monomeath Avenue, CANTERBURY

BOUGHT* - Undisclosed
The weather was still and the crowd was strong at this auction - with about 100 people in attendance. Auctioneer Doug McLauchlan gave a spirited description here, describing Monomeath as not only one the best streets in Boroondara but in Melbourne - not many would disagree there. While the house is a little dated (and has been on the market for some time) the land holding is good at just over 1300m2. Opening on a vendor bid of $4,200,000 (pretty much land value, according to Doug) there were no takers, but Doug was unfazed - "This is my last auction of the day - I have plenty of time to to wait around. But if you want to leave early you need to put up your hand". This drew a few chuckles from the crowd but did not help with bidding - with the property passing in at $4,200,000. Bought after for an undisclosed amount.
