Auctioneer James Tostevin didn't need to work too hard in his preamble, 'flawlessly presented and centrally located', was almost sufficient in front of a good turn out. A genuine bid of $1,400,000 came quickly, and the auction was underway. A second bidder surfaced, and bids came steadily in $10,000 and $20,000 amounts. A third bidder came on the scene at $1,590,000, and gave things a prod until $1,660,000 when a half-time break was taken. The second half got underway, but all the action appeared to have already played out. The search for a $5,000 rise went unrealised and Mr Tostevin passed the property in. Bought afterwards.
