BOUGHT* - $1,800,000

Auctioneer John Bongiorno started the auction without asking for bids - it was straight into a vendor bid of $1,400,000, calling for rises of $25,000.  This slight variation in procedure clearly worked as a bid of $1,425,000 was made almost immediately. A second bidder then offered an increment of $10,000 which was accepted. Unperturbed by another bidder, bidder one quickly matched the bid and we were off to the races as bids bounced back and forth at break neck speed. After approximately 40 bids in record time bidder two ran out of money and the property was bought for $1,800,000. An efficient auctioneer and two bidders with upfront game plans made for a good start to the day.
