1 Fernhill Road North , SANDRINGHAM
BOUGHT* - $1,600,000
Despite the bleak weather, there was a buzz at the auction if this 1915 Federation. In need of TLC, this home and large land attracted a crowd of 60 people and even a few builders from next door were spied peering over the fence. Auctioneer Steve Tickell provided the background to this period home's history, much to the delight of the crowd - until the rain started. The drizzle was Steve' s call to start and from here we had a quick, professional auction. Steve called for an opening bid of $1,400,000 which was taken up by a member of the crowd. This seemed to be trumped by bidder 2 with a $1,500,000 bid but was quickly met with $1,550,000 from bidder 1. Going inside to confer with the vendor gave the Hocking Stuart team time to hand out umbrellas to the resilient crowd. Back outside, they found no further bidding and passed in the property to bidder 1. Bought soon after for $1,600,000. A well run campaign by Jenny Dwyer, capped off by a no-nonsense auction by Steve Tickell.
