It was a novelty to be standing outside to witness the auction given the day’s rainy weather. In his preamble, auctioneer Andrew Macmillan spoke passionately about the property, describing it as “first class.” Proceedings were opened with a vendor bid of $1,050,000 and Mr Macmillan looked for $20,000 rises. Mr Macmillan did his utmost to create audience participation from the 30 in attendance and accepted rises of $10,000. However with no bidding on the day, the property was passed in on a second vendor bid of $1,080,000.
