56 Henry Street, PRAHRAN

56 Henry Street, PRAHRAN

BOUGHT* - $1,610,000
The master Phil De Fegely was at his all-time best today conducting the auction at 56 Henry Street with his famous silver gavel. "Start me off. Anywhere you like…" Mr De Fegely exclaimed. "$1,340,000" came instantly from a couple in the crowd and before the auctioneer had a chance to thank them another bid came for $1,400,000. Shotgun start – here we go! From there it went up in $25,000 increments and within a minute the price reached $1,500,000 and Mr De Fegely announced the home was on the market - and had been at some point in the mid $1.4 million. The price continued to rise with very strong heavy hitting bids from three parties. From Bidder 1 to Bidder 2 to Bidder 3 then back to Bidder 1 Mr. De Fegely went, keeping the three bidders firing and in the game. As the price ticked over $1,600,000, Bidder 1 dropped out of the contest leaving Bidders 2 and 3 to finish the fight. “I’ll give you 1 |thousand|…” Bidder 3 announced. “Alright, I’ll take your 1’s” Mr De Fegely graciously accepted. Rising in $1,000 increments, the figure finally reached $1,610,000 when Bidder 2 gallantly conceded to Bidder 3 and the home was bought under hammer at that price. This was a very entertaining auction witnessed by 70-plus people.
