With a light mood in a crowd of no more than 70 people, Peter Batrouney began the auction with a vendor bid of $2,220,000. After almost passing the property in, a bid finally came from the crowd for $2,240,000. From that point on it was a free-for-all as 3 parties showed keen interest in the Hawthorn East property. After 12 bids between 2 of the parties, Mr. Batrouney announced that the reserve price had still not been met, which led to a considerable slowing in the bidding. The property reached $2,352,500 and was passed in at that price. Sold afterwards for an undisclosed amount.
