He had been quoting a mid-$3 million range through the campaign for this home within walking distance of everything and wanted a start of $3,400,000. A vendor bid at this level opened instead but a bidder soon obliged with $50,000 on top. There was a small pause before agent Richard Winneke nearly jumped out of his skin, displaying the sort of enthusiasm usually reserved for the spotting of rare animals on a Serengeti safari … he had spotted a fresh bidder instead, 'Yep, him, him … over there, Campbell, him over there!' A mini battle between these two bidders moved the price along to $3.6 million when Bidder 3 popped up and reinvigorated the bidding somewhat. It completely stopped at $3.85 million with the original player holding on. A vendor referral provided a brief pause, however the second half saw a routine pass into this bidder without a dollar added. Pre-auction quote: $3.3-$3.63 million.
