An exciting auction was held in Elsternwick on Saturday afternoon, with auctioneer Bill Stavrakis of Biggin & Scott running the show. Leaving it up to crowd to kick things off, an opening bid of $1,000,000 was announced from an interested party looking for a bargain. Rising in $50,000 increments, the bidding reached $1,300,000 where proceedings momentarily slowed. Three more bidders announced their intentions bringing the price up to $1,417,000 at which point the property was bought under hammer. There were five bidders from a crowd of around 80 people with a strong atmosphere to match; a welcome change from the quiet passed in auctions seen earlier in the day.
