With the weather looking bleak, auctioneer Iain Carmichael pleaded with the crowd for an opening bid before announcing a vendor bid of $1,240,000. Within moments a bid was made by a couple for $1,260,000, and from that point on there were four bidders eagerly vying for the Malvern East property. With a lot of interest in the property, the bidding reached $1,392,000, at which point it was sold to the original bidders who were clearly very keen to own the home. Despite the miserable weather, there was a vibrant atmosphere in the crowd of 60 people who applauded the winning couple when the hammer came down.
