Alternatively if you see us at an open for inspection or an auction please feel free to come over and say hello – perhaps we could send you a buyer rating, a result or simply open diaries and work out a time to sit down and talk about
the market, values, negotiation, alternative homes or your needs from a buyer’s perspective.

For the record each of us is involved in 2 to 3 homes, around 20 inspections and attending/assisting/bidding on up to 4 auctions on a weekly basis – all in that specialist $M+ price range.

TOORAK, 9 Fairbairn Rd | Gowan Stubbings (Kay & Burton)
Under Hammer: $2,505,000 - 3 Bidders (Photo: Mal James)
Bidderbuzz Auction
"Gowan 'Hollywood' Stubbings leads off proceedings for this beautiful mid-sized Victorian in front of a crowd of about 40. A short feisty opening spiel from Gowan sees the rules, the pluses of the home and the reasons you should buy it set out. I like Gowan's auctions he knows how to build momentum in an audience rather than send them to sleep. Bids are called for and none are forthcoming so Gowan announces a one and only vendor bid at $2,250,000. That fails to excite and a half time break is taken. That also fails to excite - whoops no it doesn't! At the death Bidder One enters at $2,260,000. Bidder Two offers $5,000 and it's refused. He offers $5,000 and it's refused again politely and why not, if that's all he has then it's good practice to refuse as it will put pressure on Bidder One in any post auction negotiations. Good strategy - another half time break is taken for Gowan to get the low down on this new attempting bidder. The word from Nicole must have been take the $5,000 and when he comes back out accepts the bid. Now we go in ever-reducing bids to $2,287,500, Gowan is getting a little tongue tied and Nicole is running out of pencil – but they handle it nicely and with good humour. The question is asked for a second time “is it on the market” and in they go for a third half time break at $2,300,000. Fair enough and hopefully for all the answer comes back from Gowan as yes. On his return - Hooray! The answer is yes - that is fair dealing and guess what? It brings out some more bidding and it's strong. I like the style of both bidders - one is contemplative and the other instantaneous but both are rhythmical. This is good bidding in low numbers to $2,360,000 Looks like Bidder Two has it but no, in comes Bidder 3 at the death and we move in $1000 and $5000 to $2,400,000. Gee Bidder 3 is a sharp dresser - like his style. Surely this shows the power of putting it on the market and playing fair. And now we are at $2,485,000 and now to $2,505,000 and Bidder 3 rests - or has he stopped? - shame, he was a good dresser. Hollywood can see the stumble and gives him a break but he is gone and Bidder 2, the contemplative one, gets it at $2,505,000. Strong auction. " (Mal James)

Biggest Sale: PRAHRAN, 14 Airlie Av
John Bongiorno (Marshall White); After Auction, Bought range: $2,541,350 - $2,795,750 - 2 Bidders

"A buzzy crowd eagerly awaited the start of the auction for this considerate renovation of a Victorian property in a sought after location. After opening on a vendor bid, it was a slow process to draw out the first genuine bid in increments of $25k. Just before the call was made to pass the property in, a genuine offer of $2,325,000 was forthcoming. After a pause, a second bidder jumped in and the price was soon at $2,400,000. A quick flurry of $10k bids and the price reached $2,500,000 and the property was passed in to the second bidder. Bought after." (Debbie McTaggart)

Biggest Pass In: MALVERN EAST, 69 Burke Rd
John Bongiorno (Marshall White); Passed In: $2,500,000 - 0 Bidders

"With the loud chatter of the crowd of 70, anticipation was in the air. Auctioneer John Bongiorno stood centre stage and with a commanding presence spoke passionately about the property, describing it as a great family home on an amazing allotment and a great lifestyle on offer. A vendor bid of $2,500,000 opened proceedings. Mr Bongiorno worked hard to entice bidding from the assembled group but with all in attendance standing as spectators, the property was passed in."
