"This auction had more twists and turns than a gymnastics competition! Andrew Macmillan accepted a genuine bid of $1,500,000 to start things off before a second bidder quickly chimed in. What we witnessed next was a see-sawing event over half an hour until the price reached $1,670,000. Along the way one of the bidders frequently shook his head and proclaimed he was out, only to put forth another bid! At the last moment a third bidder entered the battle to eclipse them both and snare the property for $1,705,000. " (Doug Paget)

"A landmark property on a magnificent allotment of land, practically a “farm for Prahran” were the passionate opening words of auctioneer Tom McCarthy to the gathered group of 70. Proceedings started with a genuine bid of $2,000,000 and Mr McCarthy looked for $50,000 rises. Bidding slowed but after Mr McCarthy returned from consulting with the vendors, the auction had transformed. A second bidder joined the proceedings and the competition for the property was fierce. The property was announced on the market at $2,560,000 and, with bidding showing no signs of slowing, was eventually bought under the hammer for $2,710,000 to the applause of all present."
