A crowd of 70 were present at the auction of this architect built home by John Davey. The voice of auctioneer Rob Vickers-Willis echoed around the courtyard as he painted a lengthy preamble that extolled all the values of the property. Once the formalities were done it was down to business and with no opening bids Mr Vickers-Willis opened with a vendor bid of $3,500,000. It looked like a duck auction was on the cards when a bid of $5,000 was offered. This was knocked back and instead a $25,000 bid was suggested and was accepted by the lone bidder, who had the property passed in at $3,525,000 to begin negotiations. Sold after for an undisclosed amount.

Biggest myth in Melbourne. That auctions are won with the most money.
