BOUGHT* - $1,960,000
A small crowd gathered out the front in a narrow street for a rather petite property at this Armadale auction. But this auction seemed to prove that crowd size does not dictate whether the auction is a success or not. All you need is two keen bidders willing to widen their wallets when the time counts. Which is what this auction had. Auctioneer Tim Derham introduced the property and was met with silence when he proposed the crowd provide him an opening bid. Instead, Mr Derham opened with a vendor bid of $1,700,000. Asking for increases of $25,000, Mr Derham receievd several quickly from two bidders. A quick break and return at $1,875,000 meant that Mr Derham could not announce the property as on the market but dropped the increases to $10,000. Another round of bidding ensued and paused at $1,960,000. Darting indoors to confer with vendors, Mr Derham returned with news that the property was on the market. No further bids were made and Bidder 1 snatched the keys at this amount.
