A crowd of almost 50 gathered on Avondale Road awaiting the auction of townhouse 10C. Auctioneer, Justin Long began enticing potential buyers with the lifestyle they could enjoy in Armadale, mentioning local cafes and restaurants. As Mr Long was about to commence the auction he became red and struggled to catch his breath, rasping for some “emergency water”. An assisting agent came to his aid with a glass of water, to which Mr Long marvelled “Armadale water tastes the best”. The auction was then delayed further as rain began to pour and the proceedings were moved into the property. Tightly packed into the property’s open plan kitchen and living area. Mr Long commenced the bidding placing a vendor bid of $2,100,000. His bid was quickly met by a first bidder placing a bid of $2,125,000. A second bidder, bidding on behalf of friends on the phone, joined the auction at $2,150,000. The two bidders continued to outbid each other in $25,000 increments. With each bidder eager to outbid the other, Mr Long could barely get a word in to declare the property was on the market at $2,400,000. The bidders continued to go back and fourth now in bids of $10,000, until bidder two declared a final bid at $2,620,000. After some encouragement from Mr Long and consulting the friends on the telephone, Bidder 2 made a last bid of $2,630,000. This bid was quickly met by Bidder 1 at $2,635,000, to which after three final calls, Mr Long declared Bidder 1 the new owner of 10C Avondale Road, Armadale.
