James Home Rating: 690 | Grade AB+ | September 2026
This is a really interesting terrace home in a very good part of East Melbourne.
It sits on a generous piece of land, although the driveway and car park take up part of the block, which means the downstairs footprint isn’t as wide as it is upstairs.
Downstairs is perfectly functional, with the kitchen and living areas working well for a terrace. But upstairs is where the home really gets interesting. The main bedroom is enormous, almost the size of three bedrooms, with a very generous ensuite. There’s also another bedroom at the rear with its own bathroom, giving you a good separation between the adult and children’s accommodation.
The rear faces south, but the home still feels surprisingly bright. The courtyard garden is also larger than you’d normally expect for a terrace.
The garage is a little awkward to get in and out of, but it works. And then you have the studio, which is a significant bonus. Guest accommodation, teenagers, working from home or an art studio, there are plenty of ways to use it.
And then there’s Gipps Street. It’s one of the best streets in East Melbourne.
So while there are a few compromises, this is a terrace with good space, a great layout, a studio and an exceptional location. There is plenty to like here.
